Can You Guess the Bird Calls?
Guess the birds by using the sounds. This video will play a short clip of common bird calls and you have 10 seconds to guess it. It will then show you the bird making the sound. This video is great for kids and adults alike. Your dog might also enjoy this video, I know mine did. Have fun listening to chirps, caws, honks, tweets, quacks, gobbles, clucks, and cock-a-doodle-dos.

Chicken Lifecycle Craft
Have your child make the chicken lifecycle out of clay. You can label a plate with the stages. Then have your little one place their finished models on the matching labels. Need clay, try this.
Chicken Threading Craft
Have your child draw a chick face on the paper plate. Discuss the parts of the face: eyes, beak, and feathers. Older kids can make sure to include the nostrils and talk about how the ears are small holes hidden by the feathers. Once your child is content with the design, hole punch some holes around the edge and have them lace yellow pipe cleaners through. You can talk about how the fuzzy feathers on baby chicks are called down.
Chicken Nesting Dolls
Take one piece of paper and cut it in half. Then cut one of the halves in half. Then cut one of those in half. Take the half sheet, the quarter sheet, and the eighth sheet to make nesting cylinders. Draw a chicken in the middle of the largest sheet, an egg on the second largest, and a chick or embryo on the smallest. Label the pictures. Roll up and tape or glue each tube. You can put them on a string or leave them like that. Use preposition words when playing with them.

Make a penguin out of a toilet paper roll. There are many types of penguins. Show your child some photos of different kinds and get creative with how to make them.

Ostrich Craft
Make an ostrich with paper. Ostriches have long feathers. Have your little one practice making this texture by cutting the paper. If they are able, they could also try rolling the paper.
Dodo Bird Hunt
Show your little one photos of dodo birds. Explain that they went extinct because they could not fly and people hunted all of them. Talk about what the birds could have done instead of flying to hide from people. Print off 10 dodo birds and hide them around the house. Have your child hunt them down, and practice counting as they do.

Bird Layers Craft
Using cardboard, cut out the shape of a bird. Cut up the parts of the bird so they can be put back together. For older kids, make the bottom layer of the inside of the bird. For younger kids, make it the same as the cut-up layer so they can match.

Make Wings
Using paper, cardboard, feathers, or whatever else you have around the house, design a pair of bird wings. Explain that humans can't fly with wings because we are too heavy. Birds have hollow bones so they are lighter.
Beaks and Talons
Pretend you have a beak and talons, try to move stuff from one side of the room to the other using only your beaks and talons or claws. Make sure to practice using the vocabulary.
Bird Eggs
This lesson includes an easy-to-read text about different bird eggs with real photos so kids can see the various types of eggs. The eggs are a mixture of different colors, shapes, and sizes. They can compare the different types of eggs. Incorporate math with two egg and nest counting activities. Practice cutting out different eggs and putting them in the correct nest. Color a nest and write the number of eggs inside. Practice with superlatives by comparing the biggest bird in the world to the smallest. There is a worksheet where kids can practice comparing two birds to determine which one is bigger. Early finishers can color a bird coloring page.

Dye hard-boiled eggs with whipped cream and food coloring. Make sure to leave the cream on for a while to soak in so the colors really stand out.
